Who are The AXE Factor?

The AXE Factor is a band made up of people with learning disabilities, supported by non-disabled musicians. The current line up of The AXE Factor is:

Dennis Waugh - Keyboard and Guitar

Debbie Liddell - Purcussian

Matthew Roach - Keyboard and Vocals

James Rogers - Guitar

Mary Donald - Vocals

Matthew Whyte (was selected at the auditions but has recently left to pursue other interests)

and

Helen Hill - Purcussion

Alan Gray - Drums

Ian Wilson - Trombone

Rob Scott - Saxaphone

Alan Fazakerly - Bass Guitar

Kirstie Mann - Singers Nudger!

How did The AXE Factor begin?

The AXE Factor were formed in 2006 following an 'X Factor' style audition. From the 40 people who auditioned, 6 individuals were succesful and joined the project.

The project, and the band took its name from another band 'Small Axe' who were involved in the auditions and initially in supporting the new band.

The band meet regularly to practice and have performed a number of gigs.

What kind of music do The AXE Factor play?

The AXE Factor plays a mix of reggae, ska and blues
